Skincare product

We often do not get the desired results because we do not follow the routine properly so here are some of the “do’s and don’ts of a skincare routine” which everyone should know.

Do’s of skincare routine

Cleanse your skin daily

Our environment is full of pollution and germs, which clog skin pores. To get rid of these, it is important to cleanse your face regularly. The best time to cleanse your face is before bedtime so that your skin will become baby soft in the morning.

Drink lots of water

Water makes up about 55-70% of our body weight and is helpful in preventing and curing many diseases. The more the quantity of water you will have in your body the better blood circulation will work. Drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water keeps your skin healthy and hydrated.

It also helps in detoxifying your system and makes your skin clear and glow. If drinking simple water seems boring to you, then start drinking tasty and healthy detox water.

Keep your skin moisturized

Our body requires a lot of water for its proper functioning. Similarly, the skin requires moisture to stay healthy and hydrated. However, the skin has its own moisture secreted by oil glands but it is not enough to deal with the harsh environmental conditions.

Apply a good moisturizing cream or lotion twice a day to keep your skin fresh and hydrated.

Wash your face!

You should wash your face at least twice a day especially in the morning and before bedtime. Our skin consists of sebaceous glands, which continuously secretes oil from it. When oil clogs in the pores of the skin, it promotes the trapping of dirt and bacteria.

Face washing helps in removing the excess oil and dirt from the skin. You should also wash your face when you do a workout as during workout the glands work fasters releasing more sweat and oil.

No pimple popping

You should not pop your pimple as it can leave the acne spot.

Try ice water facial

Icing is great to reduce the puffiness of the face. It helps in keeping the skin firm and tight. It has age-reducing properties as the skin firming process reduces wrinkle formation. Icing also helps in reducing the size of the pores providing smooth and baby soft skin.

Use a night cream

Night creams or serums can be used for different purposes including

  • Spot reduction
  • Acne reduction
  • Skin toning
  • For a glowing skin
  • Anti-wrinkle
  • To moisturize skin.

Goodbye dark circles

Due to lack of sleep, most people suffer from dark circles. You can reduce these by improving your sleep cycle. You should at least sleep 6-8 hours a day and if you still have some dark circle and want to get rid of them faster, then start using an under-eye cream.

Add under-eye cream to your nighttime skincare routine as they not only reduce the dark circles but also reduce puffiness and enhance your skin glow.

Scrub your body

Scrubbing your body during a shower is very important to remove all the dead skin, dirt, and cleanse your skin deeply. If your skin is sensitive, do not use products with harsh exfoliators. You can do this 2-3 times a week to get velvety soft skin.

Steam facials

Once or twice a month you should add steam to your facials. Steam helps in opening pores making dirt removal easy and increases the blood circulation in the skin.

Start using essential oils

Essential oils do wonder no matter for what reasons you are using them so always include essential oil in your skincare routine.

Always apply primer before makeup

A primer protects your skin from harmful makeup products and keeps the makeup stay longer on your skin.

Don’ts of skincare routine

No more daily scrubbing

Our skin is sensitive, and daily scrubbing with harsh exfoliators can cause irritation and blemishes.

Follow the cleansing steps properly

For better result, your cleansing routine should have the following sequence

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Massage cream

Never step out without sunblock

We mostly forget to use a sunblock or think that our moisturizer has sunblock in it so we do not need an extra one. Always apply sunblock before moving out of the house since sun exposure as little as 15-20 minutes can cause damage.

Don’t touch your face excessively

Our hands carry many bacteria on them so touching your skin repeatedly can transfer the bacteria and can cause irritation.

Avoid hot showers

Though steaming is good but not on a daily basis, so hot showers can open your pores excessively. These pores can get clog dirt and bacteria.

Don’t use excessive makeup

Excessive use of makeup clogs the pores and turning your skin dull and rough.

Don’t drink too much coffee

Excessive coffee can cause dehydration to your body and skin. It also dries your lips.

Don’t take sunbathe

Sunbathe, especially without a high SPF sunblock, can badly damage your skin.

No more over massaging

Massages sound relaxing and increase the blood circulation in the skin but over-massaging can cause irritation and redness to your skin.

Say no to medicated lip balm

Lip balms containing menthol and camphor do moisturize lips but for longer use, they are actually making your lips drier.

Conclusion

Following a skin routine is very important but following it with consistency is even more essential. Make a daytime and a nighttime skincare routine and stick to it religiously and you will soon notice the radiance, glow, and softness in your skin.
