5 Ways Natural Herbs Affect Men And Women Differently

While men and women contain similar organs in the body, such as a brain, heart, liver, stomach, and lungs, and both of their bodies are covered in skin, there are some distinct differences between the two genders. For example, a woman’s breasts tend to grow much larger than a man’s breasts. At the same time, the genital regions of a man and a woman also defer substantially – with men featuring a penis and testicles, while women feature a vagina. Personality traits and many other features often also tend to defer to men and women, yet their internal bodies work similarly in many cases. For example, the digestive tract, cardiovascular system, and even their respiratory systems mostly work in the same way. There are, however, some differences in digestive function and other particular areas that should be noted.

In this article, we want to focus on a particular difference that can be seen between men and women – a difference that starts within the digestive tract, yet may affect various parts of their bodies. We are referring to the utilization of natural herbs to improve certain areas of health, such as herbs with male enhancement vitamins, or libido-enhancing herbs that can be taken by women. We are going to take a look at five different herbs and discuss how they affect men and women differently.

Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek

Let’s start by looking at how fenugreek affects both men and women. WebMD(1) explains that Fenugreek is quite similar to a clover and it is native to Western Asia, as well as Southern Europe. The seeds of the plant are often used in dishes, but can also be used to prepare certain types of herbal medicines. An upset stomach, gastritis, diabetes and heart conditions are often treated with this natural herbs. Some people also use Fenugreek for kidney problems, bronchitis, chronic coughs, tuberculosis and to enhance their physical performance. Now, let’s take a look at how Fenugreek affects men and women differently.

  • When women use fenugreek as a natural supplement, it assists with increasing the production of breast milk and, according to Livestrong(2), may even lead to small enhancements in breast size. Furthermore, when a woman uses fenugreek, it may also help to reduce hot flashes, as well as reduce the severity of symptoms that are experienced during menstruation.
  • When a man uses fenugreek(3), on the other hand, it helps to boost their libido and it may aid in assisting with the development of a masculine physique. The natural herbs have also been found to enhance athletic performance amongst men.

maca

Maca

Maca root and the leaves of the maca plant are some of the most popular natural remedies used by both men and women. This particular herb is often recognized for its ability to increase sperm volume in men but has many more benefits to provide the user. Once again, maca tends to affect a man in a different way that it affects a woman, so let’s take a look at the benefits this plant has for both genders individually.

  • While it is often used to improve sperm production, The Maca Team(4) explains that maca can also sometimes help to enhance erectile quality and function amongst men who express symptoms of erectile dysfunction. Furthermore, maca has been proven to enhance libido amongst men and to assist with their fertility. Another benefit is the fact that maca may help to increase the production of testosterone in men with low testosterone levels, and the herb is excellent for supporting prostate health.
  • Amongst women, maca is known to assist with reducing the symptoms that menstruation causes. It is also often used to help reduce the severity of menopause once a woman reaches an age where she starts to show symptoms of this process. Global Healing Center(5) reports that maca may help to naturally treat depression, sleep disruptions, night sweats and hot flashes amongst woman when they are going through menopause.

Tribulus Terrestris

Tribulus Terrestris is another famous natural herb that is often used by bodybuilders due to the saponins found in the herb. Saponins possess natural steroidal properties that may help to boost exercise performance during high-intensity workouts. In some men, Tribulus Terrestris may also lead to an increase in testosterone production, according to Men’s Fitness(6).

When it comes to women, however, Tribulus Terrestris would not aid in testosterone production, but rather help to enhance their libido and assist with mood swings, which is a common symptom of menstruation. Global Healing Center(7) reports that this particular herb also acts as protection for a woman’s urinary tract.

Horny Goat Weed

The name of this herb makes it quite obvious what it is used for – to enhance libido. Men also often use horny goat weed as a supplement for increasing testosterone, although very little research has been done to provide more details on the efficiency of horny goat weed on testosterone levels in men.

There are, however, some publications, such as one published on Healthline(8), that explains the potential benefits that horny goat weed may have for men with erectile dysfunction. When a woman uses horny goat weed(9), it can obviously not improve their erectile function due to the difference in genitalia, but it does hold benefits for improving their libido and for treating the symptoms of menopause naturally.

5. Mucuna Pruriens

Mucuna pruriently is renowned for their androgenic properties, as well as the L-Dopa content that assists with dopamine production. It is often used as a cognitive support supplement, but quite a large number of supplements also utilizes this particular natural herb to help increase testosterone level in men.

Anabolic Men(10) reports that Mucuna prurience may also increase the production of growth hormone in the human body, which helps men build larger and stronger muscles. The use of Mucuna prurient in women will not, however, lead to an increase in testosterone, but may help to enhance the function of their reproductive organs, as well as improve their endurance, energy, and libido.

Conclusion

While several features of men and women, especially when looked on the inside of the body, do exhibit similarities, it is also important to observe the differences between the bodies of these two genders.

In this post, we particularly focused on how natural herbs that are often used to enhance certain traits of the body tend to affect a man versus a woman. This is an excellent example how what we put into our bodies affects us based on our gender, but there are many more examples to be explored.
