Find a good nearby gym
Many people who practice CrossFit, work out from home and follow online training sessions. However, going to the gym can bring you many more benefits. First of all, you will be supervised by pro athletes that can guide you so that you perform the exercises correctly. Moreover, at the gym, you will have the chance to make some new friends, and you will be able to count on the full support of the CrossFit community. To find the closest gym, do a quick research online. Those of you who live in big cities can choose between dozens of gyms. Establish your goals and make a long-term plan
You can’t expect to see results if you don’t really know what you want to achieve. So, start by establishing some clear goals. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to decrease your body fat percentage to a certain level? Do you want to build more muscle mass? Do you want to improve your speed or your strength? Answering these questions is essential in order to determine what are the goals that would bring you the most satisfaction. Once you have determined your goals, make a long-term plan with several short-term steps. You can consult with your trainer to determine which would be the fastest and most efficient way to reach your goals.
Don’t neglect your nutrition
If you want your body to perform and look in a certain way, you will need to provide it with the right fuel to do this. So, don’t neglect the importance of nutrition. Ideally, your diet should be divided as follows: 30% proteins, 40% unprocessed carbohydrates and 30% monounsaturated fat. As far as the caloric intake, it depends on your constitution and how much you work out, but you should consume about 0.7 to 1 grams of protein for pound. Follow the gym etiquette rules
CrossFit is more than a training program. It is a tight-knit community where people support and motivate each other. As such, in order to be a part of this community, it is important to behave accordingly. Make sure to clean after yourself at the gym, show up on time for workouts and stay until everybody finishes.
CrossFit is all about challenging yourself so don’t settle for average. However, this doesn’t mean that you always have to try new workouts. As a beginner, focus on improving your strength, speed, and endurance with the basic workouts. Even when you have been working out for a while, don’t forget about the basics as they are the most important exercises, but try to do them better and faster each time.
While challenging yourself each day is essential in order to change and grow, this doesn’t mean that you have to put yourself at risks. Always remember to warm up properly, to hydrate yourself and to work out in a proper environment. Be particularly careful in the summertime, as extreme heat and humidity can put your health at risk during workouts. Last but not least, always be mindful of your posture and your body alignment, and allow yourself to take breaks if you feel pain or extreme discomforts.
