Natural Herbs that Aid in Recovering from a Crash

Car accidents can cause life-changing pain and serious injury. An inappropriate treatment plan may exacerbate pain by covering it up rather than actually addressing its cause. Even worse, opioid addiction is a real and growing threat for accident victims and can even result in death.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, 67% of drug overdose fatalities in 2018 involved some form of opioid. It is no wonder that so many people are turning to natural healing modalities.

While they are no substitute for treatment from a medical professional, herbal remedies can be used to alleviate your pain and accelerate healing. Some people discover that taking a comprehensive approach with regular doctor visits and herbal solutions is most helpful. There is a range of medical professionals outside of traditional medicine to assist you, including:

  • Chiropractors
  • Acupuncturists
  • Integrated Medical Professionals, MDs that offer traditional allopathic medicine in addition to natural courses of treatment.
  • Naturopathic Doctors (NDs), which work exclusively with natural medicine, go through four years of formal training and must pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam.

Only you can decide which type of medical practitioner is best for you. But professional help isn’t always mandatory. Fortunately, there are a plethora of natural herbs you can try at home to heal after a car wreck.

Popular Herbal Treatments

Specific herbs have shown promise for certain kinds of pain. Everyone’s physiology is unique, so you may have a better experience with one type of remedy while someone else responds differently to the same thing. It’s a good idea to do some research before deciding which is best for you.

Arnica

Widely considered to reduce swelling and fade bruising, Arnica is poisonous if taken internally and should only be applied topically.

Bellis Perennis

If Arnica has not proven to be helpful and your injury is deep in the tissue, Bellis Perennis may be of use. It is particularly good for stiffness and lack of blood flow.

Kratom

The herb of choice if you want to avoid opioids. It is an herbal pain reliever that works much in the same way that opioids do.

Hypericum Perforatum

Used to treat nerve pain. Sharp and shooting pains from nerve damage may be alleviated through the use of this herb.

Calcarea Phosphorica

Mainly used for bruises to the bone or fractures that take time to heal. If bones feel numb or cold, Calcarea Phosphorica warms them up and helps with aching muscles.

Aconitum Napellus

Relieves anxiety and panic, and may even reduce the chances of the person going into shock.

Calendula Ointment

Widely recommended for disinfection, scrapes, and burns.

Ipecacuanha

Helps first aid if there is heavy bleeding after an injury. Also known to keep weakness and stomach upset at bay. Pressure should be applied to a wound that is profusely bleeding and it is critical to receive emergency care.

Ledum Palustre

Helps heal bruising in thin-skinned areas, including those around the fingers, toes, and eyes.

Rita Graveolens

Relieves pain from strained tendons and ligaments.

The Recovery

Many natural herbs help with recovery, and most of them carry less risk to overall well-being than pharmaceutical medications. Your to-do list following an accident should include receiving professional medical care, getting a good Savannah car accident attorney, and also exploring every avenue to alleviate your pain and heal your body. For some people, that includes natural herbs.

It’s important to know about the many options available since car accident pain can be debilitating and very intense. You may find that a regimen of nurturing self-care can include some wonderful healing solutions from Mother Nature.
