Finding Out Which Products Are Best for You – THC, CBD, or Both?

There are two primary Cannabinoids that are found in Cannabis plant that are THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol). They are different in some of their effects as they both interfere with the receptors of Cannabinoid present in the human brain and body. Mostly, CBD is used in natural and dietary supplements than THC because it has a special trait of not making the user high. This trait is because of its non-psychoactive behavior.

The main psychoactive component of the Cannabis plant is THC which acts as a primary agent to make the ‘high’ related to recreational use of Cannabis. In part, this compound works by mimicking the anandamide and 2-AG effects. The human body produces these neurotransmitters naturally and helps to modulate sleeping and eating habits, pain perception, and many other functions of the body. THC affects the body in the following ways i.e. it provides:

  • Change in the senses of smell, hearing, and sight

  • Fatigue
  • Decrease in aggression

Cannabidiol is one of the cannabinoids that the cannabis plant contains most critically. It exists in both farm hemp and medical cannabis. This slight variance causes a psychoactive effect to be created by THC while not by CBD. This fact means that you are more likely to experience a relief of your unwanted discomfort when you ingest CBD for medical purposes, with little or no noticeable effect on your cognitive abilities.

Research suggests that CBD may be better for inflammation and neuropathic pain, while THC may be better for spasticity and pain associated with cramps. It should be noted that high doses of THC can sometimes exacerbate symptoms of pain. In this capacity, the meaning of THC consumed should be done in small amounts. In addition, many individuals experience difficulty in managing the THC-related side effects, making any potential benefits useless. Some experts suggest that a combination of THC and CBD is the ideal approach to pain, making something known as the surrounding effect valid.

THC is an illegal drug with significant cognitive side effects that are immediate and long-term. These include impaired thinking and reasoning, reduced planning and organization ability, changed decision-making, and reduced impulse control. Chronic THC use also correlates with significant heart and brain abnormalities. The harmful cognitive effects of THC are lacking in CBD. CBD can actually counteract THC’s psychoactive effects. Cannabis plants with small amounts of CBD and high levels of THC have a stronger’ stoned’ feeling, while plants with more CBD and less THC have a weaker, more relaxed effect.

Because medical cannabis is becoming increasingly popular, breeders are currently creating strains with higher CBD-to-THC ratios to minimize psychoactive side effects. Together with its effectiveness, the lower health risks of CBD makes it a better candidate for natural applications than THC.

There are many of the same medical benefits for CBD and THC. From several of the same conditions, they can provide relief. However, the euphoric effects that occur with THC do not result from CBD. Due to the lack of this side effect, some people may prefer to use CBD.

Even in large doses, CBD is well tolerated. Research suggests that any side effects that occur with the use of CBD are likely the result of drug-to-drug interactions between CBD and other drugs that you may take.

None of the compounds are fatal. High THC use, however, may be associated with long-term psychiatric negative effects. This is especially true for adolescents who consume large amounts of THC; the effect on the brain is more profound for teens. Using the compound increases the risk of certain psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia.

This part gets complicated, but what you need to know is that THC tends to interact with your body’s parts that make you feel “high,” while CBD tends to interact with inflammation-reducing parts. Researchers have identified two cannabis-responding receptors in the human body, known as CB1 and CB2. These receptors are part of the larger endocannabinoid system that helps regulate the secretion of hormones to influence appetite, mood, and energy.
