3 Natural Ways of Reducing Stress That Really Work

We all face stress in our lives to some degree, but not all of us are very good at managing it. Below are three natural stress remedies that any of us can utilize to reduce our anxieties and improve our outlooks.

Passionflower

Many people have dismissed passionflower as being little more than a folk remedy; something that is widely believed to help but has no basis in science or medicine. However, we are now beginning to understand the herb passionflower better. For instance, we are beginning to understand what’s inside it.

Passionflower contains a variety of compounds that are effective at inducing states of calmness and reducing anxiety. Passionflower has traditionally been smoked by numerous Native American tribes.  There are a variety of methods you can use to ingest it and gain benefits.  For example, passionflower tea is another popular remedy that has been around for some time.

CBD

Cannabidiol has experienced an explosion in popularity in recent years and has expanded its reach far beyond the audiences that it has usually appealed to. But while CBD is now very popular, this has meant that many of the spurious claims about its supposed benefits have been amplified. For the average consumer, it is difficult to ascertain the veracity of scientific claims. It is therefore only natural to be somewhat skeptical of the purported benefits that CBD supposedly offers.

However, as time goes on, a growing body of research is indicating to us that many of the supposed benefits of CBD are very well-founded indeed. In particular, the role that CBD might play in alleviating anxiety is significant.

While CBD is found along with THC in the cannabis plant, it is not psychoactive. In fact, CBD is believed to act as a brake on the effects of THC and, whereas THC tends to stimulate people and make them anxious, CBD has the opposite effect.

Meditation

Given the way that some people talk about meditation, you would be forgiven for thinking that it is a borderline magical practice. Many of the claims made about meditation’s supposed benefits for the mind and the body sound outlandish and bold. However, this is another natural remedy that now has the full backing of the scientific community when it comes to treating anxiety and reducing stress.

You don’t need to go all out and convert to Buddhism in order to benefit from the practice of meditation. In fact, if you are able to set aside just a few minutes throughout the day to be still and peaceful, you will soon find that you are able to meditate the longer sessions.

It takes time and practice to be able to reap the full benefits of meditation. But this is something that anyone can start doing and requires no equipment or other investment.

If you go to your doctor and tell them that you are suffering from anxiety or stress, then their first response will often be to reach for the prescription pad.  However, there is no reason to resort to such drastic measures in order to manage your stress; the all-natural methods outlined above can be just as effective.
