A Quick Guide to the Different Types of CBD Products

With the rising popularity of CBD-based products, many people have questions about what they are, whether they’re harmful, what the different types of products are, and what the benefits of these products are. Here is a quick guide to help you with your questions.

What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound derived from the cannabis plant. It occurs naturally and is used in various types of products to induce a feeling of calm and relaxation.

Can CBD Get You High?

No. CBD is not like its cousin, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). When you think about getting high, that’s THC you’re talking about, not CBD. CBD is the non-psychoactive compound, a cannabis plant, and it has a massive number of health benefits. It’s THC that’s considered the bad guy!

Hemp, Cannabis, Marijuana – What’s the Difference?

Cannabis is a plant that has two main species – the marijuana plant and the hemp plant.

Marijuana and hemp contain both THC and CBD. However, marijuana contains a lot more THC and little CBD, while hemp contains a lot of CBD and very little THC. So, when people talk about CBD extracted from hemp, there are no cannabinoids in these products.

What are the Different Types of CBD Products in the Market Today?

All CBD products available in the market today have been created either by using a CBD extract or an isolate. All other CBD products are derived from these two.

CBD Extract: An oily substance containing cannabis plant materials such as fatty acids, terpenoids, and cannabinoids. The extract is the most powerful and has the most health benefits. A high-quality CBD extract will contain the full range of compounds that are found in the plant, which is why it is called full-spectrum.

CBD Isolate: This is a crystalline substance and contains one single compound – pure CBD. Isolates have zero THC but are not as powerful or beneficial as a full-spectrum CBD extract.

Other CBD Products: Based on either the extract or the isolate, there is a range of products in which CBD is used:
