If you think having excess oil on your skin is the only way you can get acne – think again.

Having dry, dehydrated skin is another acne culprit a lot of people actually overlook. And if you have been skipping your moisturizer, this is probably the reason why your skin is breaking out.

You see, when your skin is dry and dehydrated, it begins to think that there isn’t enough moisture on your skin. So, as a way to compensate, it produces more oil than it’s supposed to.

This creates havoc on your skin.

When there’s more oil, more bacteria can live on your skin. There will also be the dead cells and dirt that can get trapped in your pores.

Your complexion will look duller, too.

Apart from not using moisturizers, being exposed to cold temperatures can also leave your skin dehydrated. The colder months in winter and the changes in humidity, while you’re traveling, are great examples.

Using the wrong face cleansers can have the same effect. Some ingredients, particularly the harsh ones, can strip away your skin’s natural oils.

This leaves your skin vulnerable to bacteria and damage.
