Top 11 Home Remedies To Get Rid of Pimples Fast

Like countless others, I have spent years battling stubborn acne. There is so much information available about treating acne that it’s easy to get lost in research as you try to find a real acne solution. To save you some time, I put together this list of the top 11 home remedies to get rid of pimples fast.

1. Change Your Diet

Coconut Oil for Hair: Here Are 5 Ways to Use It

The best way to get rid of acne fast and to keep it away is to clean your body from the inside out. Avoid dairy products that can cause breakouts. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. Eat foods rich in vitamin E and healthy fats, such as avocado and almonds.

You will need:

Consume leafy green vegetables to load up on fiber and vitamins. Start by skipping sugary cereal with milk for breakfast, and have a green smoothie instead.

  • 1 ½ cups of coconut water
  • 1 cup of raw spinach
  • 2 peeled kiwi fruits
  • ½ of a peeled avocado

Directions:

Throw all the ingredients in a smoothie and blend until smooth.

Note:

Add some protein powder or a cup of yogurt for extra protein.

2. Oatmeal

You can either use ground oatmeal, known as colloidal oatmeal, or regular unflavored oatmeal available from any supermarket. An oatmeal mask is a gentle way to cleanse and refresh your skin. The absorbent properties of oatmeal allow the oats to gently soak up the excess sebum on your acne-prone skin.

You will need:

  • ¼ cup of oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Directions:

Mix the oatmeal with the water until the grain is wet. Apply the mixture directly to your face. Allow it to remain on your skin for about 20 minutes, or until the oatmeal feels dry to the touch.

3. Tea Tree Oil

tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a potent essential oil that is known for its antibacterial properties. It’s powerful enough to kill MRSA, a severe bacterial infection that is often resistant to antibiotics.

You can find it at health food stores and online. It has been proven to be just as effective at treating acne as benzoyl peroxide. Make a soothing mask to zap those pesky pimples and be on your way to clear skin.

You will need:

  • A few drops of tea tree oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mask to your face, then wait about 15 minutes. Rinse well. Apply a thin layer of an oil-free moisturizer.

Note:

Tea tree oil is very drying, so don’t use this mask more than three times a week.

4. Omega 3 Fatty Acids

The benefits of adding omega 3 fatty acids to your diet are innumerable. Not only is it an excellent brain food, but it is also effective in treating acne and repairing damaged skin. One way to add these beneficial acids to your diet is to whip up a delicious blueberry and flaxseed smoothie. The antioxidants in the blueberries will work in tandem with the flaxseed to brighten and clear your skin.

You will need:

  • 1 frozen sliced banana
  • ½ cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed
  • a cup of yogurt (any flavor works, but I prefer vanilla)

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a cup and enjoy.

5. Baking soda

Baking soda acts as an exfoliant, sloughing off dead skin cells to pave the way for new skin cells to develop. Another remarkable thing about baking soda is that it kills the harmful bacteria that cause acne to develop in the first place. You can make a simple two-ingredient exfoliant with baking soda and water.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Directions:

Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl until you form a paste. Apply the paste to the troubled area and allow it to remain on your skin until it becomes hard and crusty. Rinse well.

Note:

You can also use the baking soda paste as a spot treatment instead of a whole face mask.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

For that reason, it’s often used as a food preservative.

You will need:

– 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar

– 3 tablespoons of water

Directions:

Mix the ingredients in a small bowl. After cleansing your face with your regular method, use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to your skin.

Always dilute apple cider vinegar. Using it straight may cause harm to your skin.

7. Steam

Steam is an effective way to open your pores, allowing you to wipe away dirt and excess oil with ease. Since acne is the result of clogged pores, this method is an easy way to zap pimples before they happen. The bonus is that unlike the drying effect of harsh over-the-counter remedies, your skin will be clean and hydrated after treatment.

You will need:

  • A bowl filled with steaming hot water
  • A towel

Directions:

Lean over the bowl. Then, place a towel over your head to trap the steam. Turn on some fun music and relax for about 10 minutes. Use a clean, dry washcloth to wipe away the moisture and loosened dirt.

Note:

Use this method two or three times a week (http://homeremediesforlife.com/cystic-acne/) for noticeable results.

Moroccan Rhassoul Clay comes from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Unlike bentonite clay, Rhassoul clay is lead-free. It has unique properties that allow it soak up dirt and oil, gently removing unwanted impurities while simultaneously moisturizing your face. You can make your own spa-quality mask at home.

You will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of Rhassoul clay
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • ¼ teaspoon of green tea leaves for oily skin or ¼ teaspoon of chamomile leaves for dry skin

Directions:

Combine the ingredients in a small bowl. Add the water slowly as you mix. You may need to add more or less water to achieve the perfect consistency. Slather the mask on your face, then allow it to dry for about 10 minutes. Rinse well.

9. Matcha Green Tea

matcha

Green tea is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the world. In addition to being a weight loss booster, it can also be used as an acne fighter both internally and externally.

Matcha powder, the most potent and least processed form of green tea that you can buy, is found at health food stores and online.

Use matcha powder and coconut oil to make a soothing mask.

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of organic matcha green tea powder
  • ½ teaspoon of organic coconut oil
  • A few drops of water
  • A washcloth

Directions:

Place the powder and the oil in a small bowl and mix the ingredients. Slowly add a few drops of water until the mixture turns into a creamy paste. Smooth the mask onto your skin and let it stay on for an hour. Wipe it off with a wet washcloth.

Note:

Add a cup of green tea to your daily diet to further increase the benefits to your skin.

Lemon juice can also visibly shrink your pores and lighten hyperpigmentation caused by acne scars. Because of the high concentration of ascorbic acid content, lemons are another valuable antibacterial product straight from nature. As a result of their antibacterial powers, lemons can get rid of pimples fast.

You will need:

– Lemon cut into quarters

After cleansing your face following your typical method, take one of the lemon quarters and swipe it over your problem areas. Stay away from the delicate skin around your eyes. Rinse with water to remove the stickiness of the fruit. Follow up with an oil-free moisturizer.
