What Are The Best Natural Provigil Alternatives for Better Cognition?

Provigil is a drug that is used to reduce extreme tiredness due to narcolepsy and other sleep disorders such as insomnia, or obstructive sleep apnea. Like a nurse for example.

The medication does not cure any sleep disorders and it may in fact not get rid of sleepiness at all. It should not be used to replace sleep. It is not known well how the drug works to keep a person awake, some think it works by manipulating certain substances that control the sleeping cycle in the body.

Non-response

For some people, the drug simply does not work.  This can be due to the way they are body acts when the drug is taken or could be due to the chemical make-up of the body. For example, in some cases a person may have a too fast metabolism to make effective use of the drug, this can result in a tolerance to the drug being developed very quickly. If this is the case there are other natural alternatives that can be used to obtain a similar effect. Intolerance to the drug could also be something to do with its mechanism of involving the pathways of the brain which dopamine travel via.

Nutrients

Although Provigil is at the moment the prescription medication that is normally subscribed for the treatment of narcolepsy, there is no known cure for this disorder. It is important for patients that suffer from this disorder to ensure that the take essential nutrients in order to suppress the symptoms of the disorder. It is recommended that a 2000 milligram dose of calcium, as well as a 400-milligram dose of magnesium,  is taken three times a day – at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as 300 milligrams of choline once. The calcium and magnesium act to make sure the body produces all of the energy that it requires.  These nutrients also act to protect the bodies nervous system. The choline acts as an aid to the brain to help it perform at its optimal functionality.

coffee

Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola is another herbal stimulant. It has been well used in the Asian community. This herbal supplement stimulates the central nervous system of the body – by doing so, it can effectively act against the typical symptoms of a sleep disorder such as dizziness, and lack of cognitive function. It has been thought that this herb provides a great deal of energy to the brain, scientists have thought that it does this by encouraging the body to produce choline, which is essential for good cognitive function.

Consult with a medical professional

As is the case with taking any prescription drugs, it is always important to consult a medical professional before self-administration. Provigil is a drug which offers the user many advantages, as well as many potential disadvantages.
