Is the GMAT Right for You?

If you are interested in pursuing higher education in business management, then it is important to know about the GMAT. It is the widely used exam by all important business schools to evaluate their applicants. The time duration of the test is three and a half hours, and business schools use this test score to evaluate the future performance of the applicants in business administration programs. If you are dreaming about world-class business schools, then it is time to use a GMAT tutor to score the highest in the test.

You may see the term CAT accompanied by the GMAT and this means that this is a computer adaptive test. This computer-based system helps to ensure that the candidates face an average difficulty. If the candidate is answering the question incorrectly, then the computer system adapts the question according to the level and skill set of the candidate. This is the reason why it is called as a computer adaptive test.

What is the GMAT?

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is used to assess a variety of skills of the candidate. Writing and reading skills of the candidate make an important part in the assessment along with the analytical ability, but knowledge of the English language is compulsory, and it is the basic requirement to take the test.

This test is developed by an organization called the Graduate Management Admission Council. This organization designs the evaluation style of the exam, but it does not prepare the test question papers. It also does not report the scores, because all these things are done by another third-party organization.

Important facts about the GMAT

The candidate is required to pay a fee of $250 for taking this test.

GMAT is taken by more than 200,000 candidates in a single year. This could explain the global influence of the test on students wanting to pursue higher studies in business management.

You can get the results of the test after a period of three weeks from the date of the examination.  If you could score above 650 then it is easy to get a college without any hassles, but it is very hard to score above 700. Candidates who are able to achieve this score are considered to have extraordinary marks.

You can take up the GMAT test five times in a single year, but the condition is that there is a waiting period between when the candidate can retake their exam.

An important update about the GMAT exam is that you can use the newly launched ‘option elect section order’. By the help of this option, you can easily choose the section you need to attempt based on your taste and preferences.

Inside the GMAT

It is good to know what the GMAT has in store for the takers. A good exercise is to take multiple practice exams to prepare yourself. Remember that for all of the sections, you can receive separate scores too.

  • The candidate needs to present an analytical writing assignment within a time limit of 30 minutes.
  • The next is a reasoning section with twelve multiple choice questions. The time limit is 30 minutes.
  • The candidate then has an hour and a half for their verbal and quantitative section in total.

Reasons to Take the GMAT

It has a global influence and so students willing to study abroad will have a definite benefit. It is also precise in terms of its prediction capability. With the help of GMAT score, the candidates can choose the school of their dreams and business schools can also accept the best candidates depending upon the GMAT test score of an applicant.
