What does alkaline water give us?

When we are born, we make up 90% of the water. At the end of our lives, it is only 75%. Over the course of our lives, we drink 40,000 statistically. liters of water. Nobody has any doubt that the quality of water consumed is significant. But how much and how big?

Without water in our body, no process can take place. Digestion, excretion of metabolic products (toxins), regulation of body temperature and a number of other processes require water for proper functioning. Man acquires it in the form of various drinks but also eats with solid foods. The most high-quality water is in vegetables and fruits. Such water has the right structure and proper pH, hydrating and alkalizing the body.

Why is the water quality so important?

To make this possible, we need to regularly hydrate the body. The individual demand for water depends on the age, current physical effort and the conditions in which we are staying. However, on average, we need 30 ml of water for 1 kg of body weight per day for effective functioning. If we drink less, our blood and lymph become denser and they cope worse with the nourishment and cleansing of the body.

Pollutants not removed from the body are stored in various parts of the body, where they will be the least disturbing, eg in adipose tissue. In this way, the body becomes acidic, a situation in which not all metabolic products are continuously excreted. This may lead to many ailments. Drinking clean, filtered water is also required as contaminated water can cause certain illnesses such as diarrhea which makes the body more dehydrated.

An example is the accumulation of acidic substances in the joints. The urinary cavity that is formed during the metabolism of acidifying foods accumulates in the blood. It is then crystallized and deposited in the joints to form painful gout.

Thanks to the regular drinking of good quality water, we rinse the body on an ongoing basis. We cause that each of the 70 trillion cells we make up receives our portion of fresh water. The body is nourished, cleansed, and we feel full of energy and health.

What water does the body need?

The vast majority of organs and body fluids have an alkaline reagent. Our blood has a pH in the range of 7.35 – 7.45 and maintaining this narrow range is a priority for the body. When for various reasons, eg acidifying diet, stress, medications, blood acidity increases, the body immediately starts its reserves (buffers) to restore its acidity to an optimal level.

The second feature of our body fluids is the structure of water contained in them. The water molecule consists of two oxygen atoms and one hydrogen atom. It creates molecules with their magnetic poles, which is a natural way repel and attract different structures.

The optimal water structure that best hydrates the body consists of 6 water molecules. That’s what water is in blood and lymph. Thanks to this, water is able to effectively penetrate intercellular membranes, irrigate and purify the body.

Structural water, consisting of 6-molecule clusters, is found in freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices, among others. This structure is also formed by the water formed by the melting of ice.

What is alkaline water?

It is water with a regular system of molecules (structural water), having negative oxidation and reduction potential. The structural (alkaline) water consists of 6 molecules of water. Thanks to this, it is easier to be picked up by the body, better hydrates and cleanses its cells. For comparison, clusters of tap water usually consist of 10 to 13 molecules.

Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) is the ability of a substance to attach or donate electrons. A negative ORP value indicates that the solution has an excess of electrons that can be returned. Alkaline water has such properties – it is a donor of electrons. Thanks to this, alkaline water, being a natural antioxidant, neutralizes free radicals.

Great properties of alkaline water

Free radicals, also called oxidants, are atoms, ions, in which the outer shell lacks one electron. In addition, free radicals in the body are formed in a continuous way in the process of oxidation (burning) of nutrients. Free primary radicals are useful. Obtaining the missing electrons, they attack bacteria, viruses, and foreign degenerate cells, thus protecting our body.

The secondary free radicals play a different role, which the missing electrons obtain from the healthy cells of our body. By attacking them they accelerate the aging process, creating conditions for the formation of various diseases.

Free radicals are created as a result of the disturbance of the oxidation and reduction balance taking place in acidified organisms.

Secondary free radicals are also consumed with unhealthy foods, for example highly processed products containing trans fats. A hotbed of secondary free radicals is toast and fried products. Fats, especially after exceeding the temperature of smoking, quickly oxidize, becoming a bomb with free secondary radicals.

Alkaline water as antioxidants

Alkaline water is a natural antioxidant. It gives off free electrons to free radicals, thus protecting our body against their destructive influence.

Of course, our body can obtain natural antioxidants, such as…

  • Beta-carotene {vitamin A – is in carrots, sweet potatoes, cabbage, onions, and fruits}
  • Vitamin C  {sauerkraut, currants, strawberries, and citrus fruits}
  • Vitamin E {obtained mainly from full grain products}
  • Selenium {obtained mainly from full grain products}

However, the diet of a typical man is not always rich in food products containing the above products. Alkaline water with negative oxidation potential (ORP = -100 mV … -200) has very strong antioxidant properties. Thanks to this, it acts on secondary free radicals like a broom for dust. By donating its excess electrons, it removes free radicals from our body.

Alkaline water pH

The vast majority of organs and body fluids of the human body is basic. The exception is the stomach (stomach acid) and urinary system. The latter serves, among other things, to get rid of acidic metabolic products. The pH value of our blood must be within the range of 7.35-7.45. Only then is it able to provide nutrients and remove the resulting acidic waste.

Alkaline water minerals

The body itself does not make alkaline substances, they must be supplied from the outside, usually in the form of food. However, as it turns out, the diet of the vast majority of people abounds in substances acidifying meat, cheese, sugar, fat. The body, consuming it, consumes the resources of its alkaline minerals that are not infinite. With age, the natural possibilities of cleansing the body, neutralizing acid wastes are reduced, leading to their accumulation in the form of growths and degenerations.

Alkaline water, in addition to excess electrons (OH- ions) also contains alkali metal ions (calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium), which are necessary for the neutralization of acidic metabolic products. Thanks to the consumption of alkaline water, we help the body maintain acid-base balance, maintaining optimal conditions for its functioning.

Alkaline water and structural water

Alkaline water has the features of structural water, consisting of the formation of 6 and fewer molecules. Exactly like in the case of frozen water. Thanks to this, alkaline water easily penetrates the cell membranes, hydrates and purifies the body.

Alkaline water and cardiovascular system

The proper functioning of the cells is strictly dependent on the amount of available oxygen. In the case of its absence, the body’s work is disturbed, which can lead to the formation of an acidic environment – acidification. In alkaline water, there is excess oxygen. Our blood in 90% consists of consumed water. If we drink alkaline water, our blood is able to store and deliver more oxygen.

Possible side effects and risks of alkaline water

Although alkaline drinking water is considered safe, it may produce negative side effects.

Some examples of negative side effects include the lowering of natural stomach acidity, which helps kill bacteria and expel other undesirable pathogens from entering your bloodstream.

Additionally, an overall excess of alkalinity in the body may cause gastrointestinal issues and skin irritations. Too much alkalinity may also agitate the body’s normal pH, leading to metabolic alkalosis, a condition that may produce the following symptoms:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Hand Tremors
  • Muscle Twitching
  • Tingling In the Extremities or Face
  • confusion

Alkalosis can also cause a decrease in free calcium in the body, which can affect bone health. However, the most common cause of hypocalcemia isn’t from drinking alkaline water, but from having an underactive parathyroid gland.
