Reiki Touch As A Cancer Treatment Complementary Therapy

Both powerful and gentle, Reiki has aided in the healing of many illnesses, including headaches, colds, insomnia, fatigue, heart disease, broken bones, and cancer. It has been shown to relieve pain, assist the body in clearing toxins from chemotherapy and radiation treatments. After even one Reiki treatment patients have expressed an increase in feeling wellness and in a quicker recovery from injuries, surgery or trauma.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese touch therapy and relaxation technique and one of the fastest growing forms of Energy Medicine. It is a complementary therapy option that promotes relaxation, decreases anxiety and discomfort. Used as an effective healing touch therapy for stress reduction and pain control. It assists patients both when in the hospital, and during their continued recovery after leaving the hospital.

It is at its simplest, a relaxation technique which relaxes the body, mind, and spirit, all of which are beneficial to healing any condition. There have not been any known cases of Reiki interacting with medications; on the contrary, Reiki has been known to aid with side effects from anesthesia, radiation treatment, and chemotherapy. Most patients experience less nausea and have a quicker recovery when having Reiki sessions.

What is Reiki Energy?

Reiki Energy Healing is a form of hands-on healing practice used to promote physical and psychological well-being in the user developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. Since coming to America in the mid-1900s, it has become a popular form of complementary and alternative medicine. It has also become increasingly more mid-1900sm. Reiki has gained ground and is recognized as an effective integrative medical tool.

Reiki is a simple relaxation or energy balancing technique. The energy is known as a primal energy that is responsible for the health and well-being of all living things.  So all-encompassing is the importance of this energy that it is considered to be the manifesting force behind everything that exists. This energy that is within our physical body, mind, and emotions can be directly affected by thoughts and feelings. If we have positive thoughts and feelings, our energy will be strengthened. It will give us greater confidence, more energy and the opportunity for greater success in what we pursue, like better health. Now on the other hand, if we have negative thoughts and feelings, we are likely to have less energy, want to do less and are less likely to flourish.

Who Uses Reiki?

Reiki is being used at a growing number of top progressive hospitals across the US, and in many other hospitals throughout the world. It is used to augment conventional therapy and to help reduce the patients’ time in the hospital and the need for medication (especially pain-relieving medication). Reiki is better accepted by conventional doctors and hospitals if it is explained in conventional terms, such as promoting relaxation and healing, rather than in metaphysical terms.

Doctors have been known to tell their patients that are receiving Reiki to continue sessions since they see the benefits of Reiki. Interestingly, there are many doctors that have taken Reiki classes as well. The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas is a world renown cancer-treatment hospital that first offered Reiki classes in 2001.   Then in 2003 offered Reiki sessions as an adjunct complementary therapy to patients.

Researchers are now studying Reiki in earnest because of the extraordinary positive results in healing. Interestingly enough the more scientifically minded want to know if the benefit of Reiki comes from suggestion alone, which is called the placebo effect, or if there are positive benefits beyond this.

How is Reiki Used?

Reiki does not replace medication. However, because of its relaxation effects and overall benefits, some patients have found that they might require less medication. Reiki is used to help to balance and harmonize the overall well-being of the body, mind, and spirit.  It also brings relief from the physical and emotional effects of stress and anxiety. Reiki is an excellent relaxation technique that has great healing potential.

It is important to note that Reiki is not an alternative cancer treatment. It is not used to cure cancer or in place of treatment. Reiki is a complementary therapy, used to ease the emotional and physical side effects of injury, illness or treatment.

Reiki is a wonderful ally in our quest to live a healthy, and productive life.  It’s higher wisdom knows how to heal any difficulty or condition we may come across in life, and adjusts its response to our individual needs.  The good news is that anyone can learn Reiki.  So I leave you with this inquiry to personally explore about this invisible energy that has the capacity to change someone’s overall condition. I am a Reiki practitioner so I get to see the positive effect it has on someone, and I receive Reiki and get to experience the feeling of light energy. I recommend everyone should try one session with a well-known practitioner and see for themselves. Good luck and good energy.
